Food security and nutrition departments of Caritas Torit on Friday launched the Seed Trade Fair in Eastern Equatoria.

Caritas Program Coordinator Denis Okumu said the project involves distribution of cassava planting materials and giving agricultural inputs to selected counties in Eastern Equatoria, Radio Emmanuel reported.

The State Agriculture, Forestry and Cooperatives Minister Mark Akio Ukinbul praised Caritas Torit for budget transparency.

He said that the government always worries when organizations do not disclose the amount of money spent in the projects where huge chunks might end up in operation cost while pennies are spent on implementation.

The project covers Torit, Ikwoto, Lafo/Lopa, and Kapoeta counties and that 2,350 beneficiaries will get 42 metric tons of mixed crop seeds and 4,700 hand tools.
