Western Equatoria inmates are expected to produce more food in 2013.
Deputy Director for Prisons in Yambio Felex Kaadri said agriculture was the first priority and the backbone to the state economy, Anisa Radio reported.
He added that inmates were deployed to prison farming projects in Gangara Osman, Ibba County, Biki in Ezo, Faraka Shika, Mambee and Maridi.
Brigadier Kaadari said the inmates will cultivate groundnuts, corn, and cassava.
He added that producing more food will bring prices down in the state.
