The Government of Central Equatoria ordered Central Pub management to leave the land within three to six months because it wants to build a new state secretariat in that place in Juba.

A foreign investor who runs the Central Pub formerly known as Unity Garden told CRN last week that he bought shares in the business from the daughter of Governor Clement Wani Konga.

He said the land was leased to him for seven years but the state government wants him to leave within three to six months.

Central Equatoria Information Minister Jacob Aligo Lo Lado confirmed the closure order to CRN on Thursday.

He said the land belongs to the state Government and it wants to build a new and modern state secretariat office in the place.

The minister added that the Government did not lease the land to the Central Pub manager but that it was hired to the Governor’s daughter who invited some Lebanese to partner with her.

Mr Aligo said the Government does not know the manager who runs the pub and the governor decided last year to develop the land for the state government headquarters.

The Central Pub manager lamented the breaching of his contract that sends a bad signal to foreigners who want to invest in the country.
