The Presiding Judge dealing with Wau’s deadly December violence trials warned Western Bahr El Ghazal State executive and security organs for interfering with the court’s proceedings.

Justice Buga Ajwach Makier released a statement on Wednesday condemning security re-arrests of suspects acquitted by the court, including MP Hassan Ngor Agwer, Voice of Hope reported.

Justice Ajwach called for their immediate release.

He said security operatives and executive organs are charging suspects without clear evidence and the court will never sentence them on false evidence.

The presiding judge added that security officials in Wau are threatening the lives of suspects acquitted by the court.

Justice Ajwach accused the state security of misunderstanding the meaning of justice and rights of the suspects.

He stressed that security, executive and judiciary have different mandates and jurisdictions and they should respect each other’s role.

He threatened to write a negative report about the security in Western Bahr El Ghazal if they continue harassing during the trials.

MP Hassan Ngor Agwer told Voice of Hope Wednesday evening over the phone that after he was acquitted by the court, security personnel followed him up to his home with threats and he left the house for safety.

Other two suspects on the Farjella killings were reportedly re-arrested after the court pronounced them free.

The executive and the security organs could not be reached for comments.
