The EU high representative on Wednesday condemned the attack on UNMISS convoy that resulted to the killing of five peacekeepers, two staff and five civilians being escorted by the mission.
The spokesperson of Catherine Ashton, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, said in a statement that she strongly condemned the attack on a UNMISS convoy near Gumuruk in Jonglei state.The statement added that the High Representative is saddened by the tragic loss of life and expressed her condolences to the families of the victims.
She called on the Government of South Sudan to conduct a full investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Ms Ashton urged all armed groups to respect the Government’s appeal to lay down their weapons and to settle their differences by peaceful means.
