Police in Western Bahr el Ghazal State have confirmed the deaths of six people, including four members of the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF), in separate incidents reported across the state.
The state police spokesperson, Col. Santino Uduol Mayen, told Voice of Hope Radio that the incidents occurred over the past seven days.
He said the first incident occurred in Sirimalanka, Raja County, where lightning struck a military barracks, killing four SSPDF soldiers on the spot.
Col. Santino said another incident occurred in the Hai Jebel Kheir residential area near Medan Rabta, where a boda boda rider identified as Bobai Arkangelo Matthew was attacked by passengers he was transporting from Hai Lokoloko.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspects shot the rider and took his motorcycle, leaving him seriously injured. He later died from his injuries.

Col. Santino also said another incident was reported on 28 September in the Hai Bilfam residential area, where a 28-year-old man identified as Yel Deng Madut sustained a knife injury to his right hand after being attacked in the evening.
He further said that on the morning of the same day, another man, aged 32, died by suicide in the Hai Jebel residential area. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.

Col. Santino Uduol Mayen said investigations into the reported incidents are ongoing, with police working to ensure that those responsible face justice.
He assured residents that, despite the incidents, the overall security situation in the state remains stable and that police continue to work to protect citizens.
