The Commissioner of Magwi County in Eastern Equatoria State has appealed to the community, the state government, and the national government to work together to rehabilitate the Magwi–Obbo road.
Commissioner Hon. Lam Francis said the feeder road has been severely damaged by heavy rainfall, making transport difficult for residents and traders.
He noted that the road generates revenue for all levels of government and therefore requires a collective effort to restore it.
The commissioner praised local communities for opening drainage channels to allow floodwater to flow away from the road, helping to reduce further damage.
However, he said more support is needed, including heavy equipment such as excavators and graders, to complete the rehabilitation work.
Hon. Lam also appealed to development partners and well-wishers to support the rehabilitation of the road, saying poor road conditions continue to disrupt transport and trade, especially during the rainy season.
The commissioner made the remarks during a telephone interview with Radio Emmanuel FM.
