Returnees arriving in Raja County of Western Bahr el Ghazal State are facing severe living conditions, with local authorities warning that their situation could worsen without urgent humanitarian intervention.
Speaking to Voice of Hope Radio, Raja County Coordinator Jamila Nasir Dahab said people fleeing the conflict in Sudan are living in difficult circumstances and have not received any assistance since arriving in the county.
She explained that although large numbers of returnees and displaced persons continue to arrive, they have not yet been officially registered, making it difficult to establish their exact population.
Nasir Dahab noted that the displaced families are receiving neither government nor humanitarian support and are surviving on the few belongings they managed to bring with them.
She appealed to humanitarian organizations and the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) to urgently assist to help the affected population in meeting their basic needs.
The appeal comes amid a growing influx of displaced people into Raja County, raising concerns over access to food, shelter, healthcare, and other essential services.
