The United States Ambassador to South Sudan, Michael J. Adler, has said American investors are willing to invest in the country if a transparent and predictable business environment is guaranteed.

Speaking to media managers in Juba on Wednesday, 15th April, Ambassador Adler emphasized the need for the government to establish a conducive investment climate supported by clear legal frameworks. He noted that such frameworks should protect businesses from arbitrary license confiscation or refusal of renewals by authorities.

He stressed that increased U.S. trade and investment could strengthen bilateral relations between South Sudan and the United States, while also contributing to the country’s economic growth.

The Ambassador further urged South Sudanese leaders to prioritize peace and ensure proper management of public resources, saying these are critical to building investor confidence and delivering benefits to citizens.

He also welcomed ongoing efforts by the African Union to promote inclusive political dialogue, encouraging participation from all political actors both signatories and non-signatories to the Revitalized Peace Agreement.

According to Adler, inclusive dialogue remains essential for sustaining peace and preparing the ground for credible elections.

South Sudan is expected to hold elections in December this year, though the process remains a subject of debate, with analysts raising concerns over limited time and insufficient funding for the electoral process.
