38 Students in Eastern Equatoria secures Scholarship to study in Northern Bahr el Ghazal

Obiala Angel – Torit| The Eastern Equatoria State Government has confirmed a list of 38 students selected from various counties, administrative areas, and two municipal councils to benefit from the Adut Salva Kiir scholarship in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.

Adut Salva Kiir is the daughter of South Sudan’s President, Salva Kiir Mayardit.

While briefing the selected students at the State Secretariat, Governor Louis Lobong Lojore said the nationwide initiative will play a vital role in promoting peace and unity among South Sudanese.

He appreciated President Salva Kiir Mayardit and Adut Salva Kiir for launching the initiative, noting that it will help reduce illiteracy in the country.

“We are here to launch a scholarship project initiative by the office of the president through Adut Salva, this idea is very vital because the students are going join colleagues from some states to study in the same school,”

Governor Lobong encouraged the students to remain disciplined and prioritize education in order to represent the state well.

“I would like to thank the ministry of Education and Gender child and social welfare for selecting the students”

“I want to sure the people of the state the selection is a representation of the diverse tribes in the state, you students have to go and represent the state by performing well during examinations, this is the origin where South Sudan begins and it has to be known very well.”

Some of the selected students expressed gratitude to the Office of the President for the opportunity and pledged to work hard in their studies for a better future.

They also encouraged fellow learners, especially at the primary level, to prioritize education and called for increased enrollment of girls in schools.

“It’s actually amazing I heard that it’s a boarding school, I always have an idea to study hard to represent Eastern Equatoria state, I tell those learners at primary level specially those who pay themselves to struggle in Education to join us there, parents will have to send children for learning to help their future.”

 “I want my fellow girls and boys to go to school to become lawyers and ministers in future, I will do my best to perform during examinations to raise name of the state and South Sudan, I want to tell my fellow girls to follow us.”

A total of 38 students—14 females and 24 males were selected. Three students were chosen from each county and administrative area, with additional selections from the municipal councils.
