A three day media training facilitated by Association of Media Development in South Sudan, AMDISS has concluded in Kuacjok, the Headquarter of Warrap State on Thursday.

The capacity building for local journalists commenced on 12th to 14th of March 2024.

The Media Development Officer Juma Peter said AMDISS aims at advocating for the freedom of expression and journalists’ training empowerment for a professional journalism.

The Media Development Officer said that the training brought together twenty journalists from five different radio stations including Don Bosco Radio FM, Door, Kong Koc, Kuacjok FM and Mayardit FM. Among the twenty journalists, ten are females and ten males.

The officer acknowledged that the selection of few journalists from each station might not cover all the journalists across the country, but there is a need of designing in-house trainings for the journalists to gain knowledge.

The representative of participants Samuel Aru Atekdit said they have gained knowledge on media laws, Code of Conduct & Ethics, Gender Based Violence reporting, trauma healing and conflicts sensitive reporting.

He urged the participants to use the knowledge gained in the training and share it with their colleagues to have many professional media practitioners in South Sudan.

The speakers spoke to Don Bosco radio through phone interview during the conclusion of AMDISS training in Kuacjok headquarter.
