His Eminence Stephen Cardinal AMeyu Martin arrival in Wau
The Vicar General of Wau Catholic Diocese has announced that a high-level delegation led by His Eminence Cardinal Stephen Ameyu Mulla has arrived in Wau on Thursday, 16th November.
The Church leaders are heading to Western Bahr el Ghazel for the Eucharistic congress launching next week.
Fr. Germano Bernardo Bakusays that the new cardinal Stephen Ameyu Mula with other church prelates while the Catholic Bishop of Tambura Yambio arrived and received at Wau International Airport in the morning.
The Bishops of Wau Diocese Matthew Remijo warmly welcomed Cardinal Ameyu and his delegations. Hundreds of Christians line up on the road, celebrating the arrival of the cardinal in Wau for the first time.
Cardinal Ameyu said he has come apart from the twin celebrations to share the joy of the people of South Sudan who have been blessed with the gift of a new Cardinal.
He added that the office of a Cardinal is for the Church and it is a recognition of the faith and resilience of the people who continue to hope for peace.
The Prelate concluded by calling the Catholic Diocese of Wau the land of the grandmother referring to its prominence in the establishment of the Catholic faith in South Sudan.
Cardinal Ameyu thanked the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wau and the entire community for the warm welcome they received.
The Prelate served as an Apostolic Administrator for the Diocese of Wau before the Consecration of Rt Rev Matthew Remijo. The Cardinal concluded the welcome ceremony by
imparting blessings on all people present.
On Wednesday, the Catholic Church leader His Eminence Gabriel Cardinal Zuber Wako also arrived in Wau, Western Bahr El Ghazel ahead of the Eucharistic Congress and the Golden Jubilee next week.
The launching of the Eucharistic Congress and the Golden Jubilee Hierarchy will take place in the Catholic Diocese of Wau on 26 November 2023.
