South Sudan President Salva Kiir and the accompanying delegation returned to Juba on Sunday from Riyadh after attending the Saudi-Africa summit.

The President joined 50 heads of state throughout the Middle East and Africa on Thursday to attend the inaugural Saudi-African Summit in Riyadh.

Kiir’s participation in the summit was to spotlight South Sudan’s active role in fostering regional security and stability, in alignment with the country’s overall Foreign Policy objectives.

Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. James Pitia Morgan said the Summit was to seek ways of creating new partnerships between Saudi Arabia and the African continent.

It also reported that President Kiir engaged with his counterparts on ways to bolster the country’s bilateral relations and diplomatic cooperation with other nations while in Riyadh.

The Head of State reportedly held a sideline meeting with regional leaders from the neighboring countries to discuss ways to resolve the ragging war in Sudan.

While in Saudi Arabia, Dr. James Pitia Morgan said the regional leaders have given their full support to President Kiir to continue engaging the Sudanese political and military leaders to find an amicable solution to the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

Bot President William Samoei Ruto of Kenya, Isaias Afwerki of Eritrea, and Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti expressed their support to President Kiir’s efforts to restore peace in Sudan.
