Catholic Bishop urges politicians to respect citizens’ opinions

The Bishop of Yei Catholic Diocese is urging politicians to respect the opinions of the citizens as the country prepares for elections in 2024.

Bishop Alex Lodiong Sakor appealed on Wednesday upon his return from Juba after attending South Sudan Independence anniversary in Kajo-Keji County.

He calls for genuine preparation of the elections to avoid manipulation of the citizens during elections.

Bishop Alex says citizens contributed 99% to the independence of South Sudan in 2011.

The catholic prelate appeals for the enhancement of all the election provisions to guide parties during the campaign.

Bishop Lodiong in his independence message, reiterated to the leaders to deter corruption in the country.

He warned that leaders who promote corruption should face the law and not only dismiss them from their positions without a court trial to avoid a cycle of corruption.

The religious leader pointed out that South Sudan is very rich with resources but the wealth is ended in the pockets of few individuals.
