Church trains 57 people on Child Safeguarding Policy in Wau

The Catholic Diocese of Wau has trained 57 people from different departments on the Child Safeguarding.

The Health Coordinator in the Catholic Diocese of Wau Doctor Jurel Payii Mamur says that, the workshop aims to give participants knowledge about the Child Safeguarding Policy as it is the priority of Catholic Diocese of Wau that they should protect the rights of children.

He says all forms of abuse such as physical, neglect and emotional are not accepted under the Child Safeguarding Policy of the Catholic Diocese of Wau

“What we will be looking at is the solution but solution don’t easily come from the people that have been trained from urban areas, it also need people from rural areas to know how to prevent child abuses. This need collective work from the chiefs, families and community at large.”

Participants assured their commitment to awareness about the Child Safeguarding Policy in institutions they are working in.

They urge the Catholic Diocese of Wau to train people in rural areas about the Child Safeguarding Policy to stop child abuse.

Earlier this month, Sudan and South Sudan Bishops’ Conference launched Child Safeguarding and vulnerable adults Policy to protect the right of children.

The Representatives of the dioceses including reverend fathers and sisters participated during the official launching of the policy in Juba.
