South Sudan government has revealed a plan to increase the mobility of the returnees into their home of origin to reduce congestion in Palouch and Renk.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Albino Akol Atak says they are set and ready to receive the refugees and the returnees from Sudan.
He says to the pressers that South Sudan is still receiving returnees and refugees from the 12 entry points across the borders of the country.
Minister added that people are crossing from Maban to Raja along the Sudan borderline and South Sudanese citizens are directly facilitated to their states.
Akol says the evacuation of the returnees is starting from Renk and Joda to Palouch where most of the people arrived through those entry points.
Minister Akol further says they have airlifted at least six thousand people from Palouch in the 15 rounds of trips since the conflict began. Most returnees evacuated to Juba meanwhile others go to Wau, Abyei, and Bentiu he said.
The ministry’s target is to airlift 10 thousand people per week while 180 thousand passengers per month.
He says that they have registered at least 50 thousand people fleeing from Sudan since the start of the Sudanese conflict last month.
Minister Albino added that the government is coordinating and collaborating with humanitarian organizations and other partners to provide humanitarian assistance to the returnees and the refugees.
Albino Akol Atak stated that humanitarian organizations are setting up temporary reception centers to provide shelter, food, water, medication, and other basic services.
According to him, they have received many refugees in Aweil, Northern Barh El Ghazel and they are still monitoring the situation.
Humanitarian Minister Pledge that South Sudan may establish a refugee camp if the huge influx of refugees continues to arrive.
According to International Rescue Committee (IRC), the Sudan conflict forces more than 50,000 people to flee to South Sudan.
