The family of six years old boy who gives 100 Pounds to Pope Francis as a gift says the child has the desire to see His Holiness and get a blessing.

A photo of a young boy went viral when Pope Francis saw him receiving the gift of a local banknote from a boy identified as Iko Idris Awad.

The six-year-old boy who is in the middle class was captured on camera by the journalist handing over 100 Pounds to the Pope at the gate of St, Theresa Cathedral in Juba.

The boy makes his way to see His Holiness despite huge crowds and the presence of heavy security deployed.

Joyce Opia, grandmother of the young boy says the child left early morning on Saturday with another sibling with the desire to see Pope.

She explained that the family learned through telephone calls from people who have recognized a photo of the boy giving money to Pope Francis through the window of the church gate.

Mary Mathew Namoi, mother of six including the Iko Idris who is the fourth child says it was a surprise seeing her son give money despite the difficult situation and hardship facing them.

Namoi works in a Dobbi to buy food and pay school fees for her children saying her husband is unable to take care of the children.

The Director of Social Communication at Catholic Bishop Secretariats Father. John Geboyo says religious leaders don’t distinguish people and everyone is equal in the hand of God.

Fr. John mentioned that the interaction between the boy and Pope symbolizes ther are no barriers between church leaders and poor people.

“We are all one people in the eye of God and unity is paramount to us all,” he said.

According to the family, Iko Idris was born premature, take three years without walking and their parent couldn’t afford proper medication until Catholic Church help them that enable him to walk.
