The Director-General in the State Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare is appealing to the gender focal persons to advocate for equal resource distribution in their various ministries.

Dominica Idwa explains that allocation of resources in the different ministries should be done equally while putting the issue of gender sensitivity on the forefront, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Idwa says unequal resource distribution is a sign that there is violation of human rights.

“We need all the focal points here to advocate for equal resource distribution because when we shall be forming the taskforce we shall be looking at the issue of the budget of the gender responsive budget, within your institution is that budget  gender sensitive .these are some of the advocacy you are suppose to be working on .you also look on the issue of equal distribution of these resources in each directorate because when you are also chatting other directorate it means you are also violating other people’s right”, he notes.

Director-General in the State Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, Johnson Kenyi Simon, reveals that no steps can be taken forward if gender sensitivity is not put on any developmental issue.

He says all dimensions of life being social or political needs gender inclusivity.

“When you are going for any development, if all those things are not in places like the gender mainstream if they are not in place, I don’t think if you will take step I any dimension of development whether it can be social it can be economically or it can be political”

The officials were addressing closing of a two-day gender focal points training on gender mainstreaming organized by the gender unit in collaboration with the state ministry of gender on Friday.
