The communication and Branding Manager of Zain South Sudan, reveals a plan to restrict teenagers from accessing some platforms on social media that exposes them to danger.
Eliza Isaiah Riyany says plans are on the way to limit the usage of social media, where some platforms will not be shown to school going children.
“Of course we are going to limit the use of social media which we are going to restrict and focus mostly on our youth and teenagers, of which some of the thing will be restricted. If they want to click and see, it will not show to them actually.”
“It’s actually parts of the plants as network company, (Zain). We are trying our best to reach into that level. Hopefully, these are the plans already; we are going to try our best to do much.” She added.
The Communication and Branding Manager, cautions youth against using the media, to learn bad things.
“What they are watching or doing on social media should be monitored, so that they have the fear to do wrong things but to take social media in a way of learning things in a positive way.”
Juba Model Primary School raised concerns during the 16th Day of Activism that some young children are misusing the social media by watching bad movies.
While responding to the pupils’ concerns, Eliza Isaiah says Zain is prioritizing online safety.
She did not reveal when the restriction shall be effective.
