The Police Authority has arrested a fifteen-year-old boy for shooting his colleague in Oudo village.

Easter Equatoria State police spokesperson Major Justine Kleopas Takuru, says the incident occurred last week and the offender is under police custody awaiting file of case from the relatives of the deceased.

He raises concerns that the relatives of the deceased have not come to the police station since the arrest of the offender on November 9, 2021.

“Yes there was someone who shot the colleague in the side of Loudo and brought here, he is under age around fifteen years old, since he was brought the relatives to the deceased do not want to come, the person was brought since the nine, we called the chief they say they will come but they did not come, even his relatives did not come. If they don’t want to come, someone will stand for him, we as the police, one of the police open up the case even me am part the case, we have filed up the case yesterday and he will be taken to prison and we wait for the relatives to face the court for trial, if they come well and good, if they don’t, the judge will take him to court and judge him without any problem because he has a gun and the gun is brought which another case”, Major Kleopas explains.

The police spokesperson urges parents and relatives of the deceased to file the case so that the incident can be resolved amicably by the law.

“The chief says that the relative to the disease want to discuss from there, they want the case to be solve from there, they want blood compensation from the area, we said in law the case will continue with the police and will reach court, they will continue from there both sides, if there is understanding, the understanding will be presented before the court, because they will not conclude from there alone, because we cannot free this person like that, unless he is taken to the court, even if they have paid the ram some for the blood compensation he is still to be judge, the person has gun and he killed someone, he is to be judged but still they will take their compensation, that is what we told the chief to let this people come and follow the case”, he notes.

The police spokesperson cautioned parents and chiefs against allowing children to hold guns.

“I would like to say people out there, especially the chiefs not to let the children not to carry guns even the families should not let the children carry guns, because in case of any problem you as the father and mother will be responsible before the court, that is according the law in the child acts, you will be under this law, you from home when you see your child carrying gun and you don’t stop, you will be responsible”, he says.

In a related incident, Major Kleopas, says a wounded soldier over the weekend was reported to have shot stray bullets aiming to shoot his wife in Iluhum residential area.

“There is one of the wounded soldiers, he was with the wife at home, he started fighting with the wife and the wife run to the neighbour’s home, he took gun because he has the gun at home, he started shooting because he was drunk, he shot while these people were inside and broke two Jerri canes with bullets, he shot almost six bullets, then he ran, the operation team went in the night and did not find him but only the wife, sister and children then they brought them”, he says.
