Kuku FC wins Women Football League in Torit

Kuku football club has been crowned the champion of South Sudan cup tournament for women over the weekend in Torit.

The results came after kuku FC beats Liberty Women FC 2-0.

Speaking shortly after the match, women football chairlady in Eastern Equatoria State, Torit Lily Hidita encouraged the ladies to fully participate in football.

She urged the government to extend full support to the teams in the state.

“Football is the carrier, football is a talent. Tomorrow you lose; next tomorrow you win, don’t cry and don’t get disappointed. I encourage ladies of Eastern Equatoria to participate fully in football. In South Sudan, we are the best, we have ten teams more than other states. I have a program now the ladies football can go up to the counties level, we want to make Eastern Equatoria as always number one in football, I need just my support from our government please support us, it is good also when we work together we will achieve our goals”.

President of Torit Local Football Association, Maridi Akille, mentioned that football is a unifying factor that brings people together.

“I want to take this opportunity especially to thank our national MPs who are today gathered here with us today. This is your state and I’m requesting you to support football in this state because through football we can achieve very many things. Football comes together with peace, football comes together with unity this binds people together. Football breaks the walls of tribalism, football has good thing for citizens despite of our education”

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports in Eastern Equatoria State, Stella Iromo Vitale, encouraged women to keep their eyes on education and football.

She says the state government is working to support football in the state.

“congratulations to all of you the players, keep up with Education and keep up with football, continue and don’t be afraid, go to Juba and play harder don’t be afraid of anyone we are the winners always. Government is always working hand in hand with you, we are supporting you the little we are having in the state we are always working with you”.

Deputy President of South Sudan Football Association, Charles Odwar, wishes the government and Torit Local Football Association to work together for the success of sports in the area.

“Football would have develop from private sector, private sectors are very important, now if we could have industries operating in the state, we would have say, if you are coming to work in the state and when you sign an agreement and buy something for football, that will give us fence this place and these are the things that can make us move together. So we need the government and local football association to work together such that football should progress further”.

Eastern Equatoria State Governor, Louis Lobong Lojore, claims that the government’s obligation is to fully support football career in the state.

“It is a responsibility of the government to support youths, support all people of the state or all people of South Sudan so that they should have talents and represent us in other countries and we are committed to do that, this is one of our mandate, that is why we have Ministry of Youths and Sport there are people being paid in that ministry to support you in this case. In this few remarks, I wanted to repeat it, if there is anything that you need the government to support you, you should have to tell the government earlier”.

This is the first of its kind that Kuku women football club are crowned champion since the formation of women football league in the state.

The event was attended by the Governor, his Deputy, national MPs, Ministers, County commissioners and other spectators.
