Women appeal to state authority to protect them from violence

Women from different ethnic groups living in Yambio, Western Equatoria State,
march and petition the Governor’s office on the current situation, especially the
violence against them and their children.
Executive Director of Anika women Association, Nyabang Emilia Moses says most of
the women in the area suffer from high blood pressure and ulcers due to the
unbearable situation.
She adds that women have sleepless nights because most of them and the elderly
are being raped.
The Executive Director says women wonder what their children will eat and how they
send them to school without any disturbance.

Emilia calls on the government of national unity to speed up the peace process to
come out of that situation.
She regrets that most women go to petty jobs in the markets and running for early
marriages before completing their education because of the situation they go
through.
Emilia calls on women in the top leadership to represent them well to reduce the
challenges facing women in South Sudan.
