Some citizens in Yei River County of Central Equatoria State are expressing fears for a call by the state administrator and the people of South Sudan Law Society to tell out perpetrators who have murdered, looted, raped and beaten them or their relatives for trials in the Military Court Marshall.

Many of the callers said they cannot risk their life for the property they have lost already because those who are guilty go free and they will return to kill them later.

They said they are sure with the laws of the country where only the accuser gets punished for accusing offender.

Many said the violators are armed people and they are just civilians and when the culprits are freed later they will come to hunt for them and kill them because the government is not punishing violators of human rights in the country.

A caller who identified himself only as Nyesitino said they do not understand implementation of the laws of the country where the accused is freed and the civilians are convicted and killed for accusing armed person.

Another caller, Sam revealed that accusing those who have beaten, looted you is just a waste of time, the government will just free them and you have killed or sold yourself to them better let God judge them and pay for their crimes.

‘I am a civilians I cannot accused a military man because when he will be coming to me the people of the court and the law society will not be there to defend me, you know very well how the laws of South Sudan function those who are culprits go free and victims are punished’, said Sam

Three weeks now the SSPDF Military Court Marshall is trying those who have committed crimes of looting, raping, murdering, beating and many others in the military garrison.

State administration and South Sudan Law Society is calling people to report cases of violation perpetrated against them or their relatives during the war in Yei.

The callers were expressing their fears to Radio Easter Fm through a live program on Saturday in Yei.
