Over 1000 IDPs receive food and medical assistance in Mapel Payam

Don Bosco Mission-Tonj distributed medicines and food items to the Internally Displaced Persons in Mapel Payam of Western Bahr-EL-Ghazal State.
 
One of IDPs John Wol said they started receiving the medicines on 30th of June and they also got food items including sorghums, beans, salt, sugar, soaps and cooking oil, Don Bosco Radio reported.
 
The displaced persons appreciated the catholic mission help and call other NGOs to join hands in helping them with other items like, seeds and tents to shelter them from rain.
 
The Priest in charge of the project father Joseph Chisomo said IDPs comprise of three communities who were staying together but as a results of conflict cause by robbers from both parties they were displaced
 
Fr Chisomo explained that the distribution will cover territories that Don Bosco Mission reach like Tonj South and parts of Tonj East starting with IDPs and later help elderly people and children.
 
He called on other NGOs to help the communities especially displaced persons and disabled people.
 
The priest mentioned that 1560 IDPs have received assistance and there are some places yet to be covered.
 
The speakers made the remarks to Don Bosco Radio on Saturday during the distribution.
