Easter Radio quoted Kogo Manasseh explaining that in South Sudan when ten children are born, two percent of them do not reach their fifth birthday celebration because of bad life foundation.
He spoke when the government of Yei joined the globe to celebrate the World Breastfeeding Week under the theme: ‘Empower parents and enable breastfeeding’.
The minister advises mothers to have strong relationship with their babies from the time of conception to six months after birth.
He urges mothers to breastfeed their babies one hour after birth because it prepares ready milk for the baby.
Manasseh advises mothers to always wash their breasts before suckling their babies to avoid contaminating diseases.
The minister was addressing the gathering at Yei Civil Hospital during the celebration of the World Breastfeeding Week on Wednesday.
