South Sudan People’s Defense Force admits human rights violations in Yei

There are issues of human rights violations in some parts of the country, admits South Sudan People’s Defense Forces or SSPDF Director of Information in the Military Headquarters Bilpham.
 
Major General Malaak Ayuen Ajok says due to accusations of human rights violations, President Salva Kiir Mayardit decided to sign a joint commitment with the United Nations.
 
He was speaking to Radio Easter during a one-day workshop on roll-out phase of the SSPDF action plan on addressing conflict related sexual violence in Yei.
 
Yei River State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony says SSPDF has fulfilled its mandate of protecting civilians.
 
There are exceptional cases of crimes committed by the army, he also acknowledges.
 
The officials were speaking to Radio Easter after the opening of the one-day workshop in Yei.
