United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Mark Lowcock, appeal for one point five billion US Dollars to support South Sudan refugees.

In a statement on Thursday, they also call for one point seven billion U.S Dollars for people in need inside the country during 2018.

Filippo Grandi says the number of refugees is projected to be three million at the end of this year, making South Sudan largest refugee crisis in Africa.

“The human cost of the South Sudan conflict has reached epic proportions,” points out the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

He warns that “if the war doesn’t stop, refugee numbers will increase to three million in 2018.

He calls on the world bodies to urgently come to help South Sudanese suffering while they wait for peace.

South Sudanese now require international community support due to the humanitarian crisis they are facing, says Mark Lowcock.

He appeals that it is in the interest of everyone to continue providing generous and continuous support to people affected by the crisis inside and outside the country.
