IGAD Special Envoy to South Sudan announced fixing the timetable for the beginning of the meeting of the Revitalization Forum on the Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan or ARCISS mid December.

Ambassador Ismail Wais in a statement on Monday said extra-ordinary meeting of IGAD Council of Ministers is expected to convene from December 11 to 12.

He adds that the forum will follow the meeting of the IGAD cabinet expected to provide further guidelines on modalities, structure and other details on how the round-table will be organized.

The Envoy says during consultative meetings in Juba last week he observed the overwhelming support towards the forum.

He expressed the high expectations by all stakeholders on the ARCISS revitalization process.

The Envoys notes that ‘many viewed the process as a timely opportunity to restore peace and implementation of the agreement.

Many of the positions advanced and proposals submitted during the consultation process were very valuable, he adds.

He calls for their consideration during or after the revitalization forum to break the cycle of violence to restore lasting peace in South Sudan.
