Tonj State honors 16 days of activism

Tonj State has on Friday joined the rest of the world in commemorating the 16 days of activism to eliminate all forms of violence against women.
 
Hundreds of women gathered at freedom square in Tonj to commemorate the day, Don Bosco Radio reports.
 
Abuoc Yel the chairperson of Tonj state Women Union, says women continue to suffer even though there is peace in the community.
 
The occasion is to draw attention to the world and communities to stop violence against women and girls, says Rhoda Wasuk Sube, Head of Gender Affairs at UNMISS.
 
Don Bosco Radio took the opportunity to speak to some women who turned up for the celebration and this is what they said.
 
Director General in the ministry of information, Muordek Mayol Geng urges the public to observe women’s rights in the society.
 
The occasion was organized by the ministry of social welfare and funded by UNMISS in partnership with women union in the state.
 
The event that began on Friday is expected to end on 10th of December on the International Human Rights Day.
