The Steering Committee of the National Dialogue on Tuesday visited Wau State to acquaint itself with issues of last year’s clashes between Wau farmers and Tonj cattle keepers.

The 16-member committee including members of national and state MPs headed by Mark Nyipuoch Obang met state authorities, Radio Voice of Hope reports.

Andrea Mayer Acho, Wau State Governor, told the committee that security situation was very bad between two states due to the movement of cattle keepers on farms.

The government was able to control the situation and returned it to normal, he reiterated.

Mark Nyipuoch Obang says they agreed to conduct general conference between the two communities and enlighten citizens about peaceful coexistence after the crisis.

Last year clashes occurred between farmers and cattle keepers in former Jur River areas and caused instability.

Many people were displaced from their homes and went to camps for protection.
