Pope concerned about suffering of South Sudanese, says Archbishop Deng

Pope Francis expressed concerns about the suffering of the people of South Sudan due to the ongoing conflict in the country, said Archbishop of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan.
 
Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul told the press at Juba Airport on Sunday after returning from Rome, Italy that the Holy Father is deeply touched by the situation of the young country.
 
The Archbishop said Pope Francis appreciated the role of the Church in its journey to peace and the strong spirit of promoting unity in South Sudan.
 
The ECSSS prelate encouraged South Sudanese to continue searching for peace, healing and reconciliation.
 
The world is encouraging and praying for the people of South Sudan, the Archbishop added.
