Hundreds of Christians on Sunday assembled at St Mary Parish in Yambio to celebrate the second anniversary of the late Bishop Joseph Gasi Abangite.
Bishop Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala who presided over the mass said the prayer is to remember the late Bishop and bring people closer to God, Radio Anisa reports.
He recalled that the late Bishop Gasi believed in God and committed himself to do Gods work.
Emeritus Bishop Joseph Gasi Abangite was the first native Bishop for the Catholic Diocese of Tombura/Yambio.
He served for 50 years as a priest and 33 years as a bishop.
He was born in 1929 and died on September 13, 2014 at Yambio State Hospital.
The three-day liturgical and spiritual activities for the second anniversary of the late Bishop Gasi started on Sunday with holy mass and will conclude on Tuesday September 13, with high mass at St Mary Catholic Parish in Yambio.
