The SPLA says it has discovered illegal airstrips in Western Equatoria, Western Bahr El Ghazal and Upper Nile States.

Spokesman Philip Aguer says their military Air Defence Unit is sounding a stern warning to shoot down any plane violating the country’s airspace, Radio Bakhita reports.

He says the airstrips used by foreign planes are smuggling drugs and weapons into the country.

Radio Bakhita could not independently verify the existence of unlawful airfields in the country.
