The National education statistics report shows that the number of school dropout is growing in both primary and secondary schools.
The report says over 60, thousand children dropped out of school last year. Reasons which were given are: insecurity, early marriage and poverty.
Vice President James Wani Igga says there is urgent need for a modern education system to improve learning in the country.
Meanwhile Deputy Education Minister, Bol Makueng calls on stakeholders to come together to lift up the standard of learning in the country.
The Ministry of Education collected data in seven out of ten states of south Sudan.
