Petrol tanker explosion from collapsed truck on Wednesday in Maridi County of Western Equatoria State claimed over 170 lives and left scores injured.
An anonymous eyewitness tells Radio Bakhita that the incident happened when one person lit cigarette near an overturned petrol tanker where people gathered to harvest the oozing fuel.
He says the incident happened in Bahar Nam 17 miles from Maridi town.
The source says one school head teacher and several pupils were some casualties in the incident.
Some media report indicates that some SPLA members fired into the air to scare away others harvesting fuel from the overturned vehicle only to cause explosion and death of civilians and soldiers.
