UNESCO re-commits to support war against illiteracy in South Sudan

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization or UNESCO South Sudan Country Representative in his speech in Eastern Equatoria during the International Literacy Day under the theme, ‘Literacy and Sustainable Societies’ renewed support in the fight against illiteracy in the young country.
 
Salah Khaled advices South Sudanese to have hope to its youth through the provision of effective literacy, life skills and vocational education to give them opportunity to be productive, build their country and live in peace.
 
He says with the signing of the peace agreement, South Sudan is now on course to leave its dark past behind and move forward to social and economic development.
 
The event gathered government officials, including Eastern Equatoria Governor Louis Lobong Lojore, National Education Minister John Gai Yoh who reiterated their commitment to work hard to reduce the high Illiteracy rate in the young nation.
