United Nations Children Fund or UNICEF says much commitment and funding of sixty million US Dollars is required to ensure children learn and complete school with good outcomes.

UNICEF Representative Jonathan Veitch reported on Tuesday during the launch of the first comprehensive South Sudan curriculum that only 42 percent of children were enrolled in school with only ten percent completing primary education.

He calls for more efforts done especially on training of teachers, school managers, inspectors and supervisors to use the curriculum and develop textbooks and other teaching and learning materials.

Mr Veitch says the launch of the curriculum provides an opportunity for UNICEF to encourage parents and guardians to enroll children at school to contribute to the development of their communities and South Sudan at large.

The Representative calls on all conflicting parties to respect the recently signed peace agreement to realize children’s rights.
