WBG Health Minister participates in Juba fistula campaign

Western Bahr El Ghazal State Health Minister on Wednesday left Wau for Juba to attend a national fistula campaign conference on Monday in Juba Teaching Hospital.
 
Dr Isaac Cleto says more than 80 patients so far registered for fistula operations and that preparation to admit patients are finalized, Radio Voice of Hope reported.
 
He warns that unless early marriage and unsafe deliveries are minimized, South Sudanese women will continue to suffer from genital fistula.
 
The fistula campaign is being sponsored by United Nations Population Fund or UNFPA.
 
An estimated 60 thousand women across South Sudan are believed to be suffering from fistula disease.
 
Minister Cleto is also expected to represent South Sudan in Kenya in a cancer conference which has become a global concern.
