A Juba based think tank, Sudd Institute policy analyst has cautioned warring parties against making South Sudan vulnerable to encroachment by envious neighbouring countries eyeing to expand their territories to grab abundant resources as war rages on.
Zachariah Diing says there is alarming territorial encroachment of South Sudan that must be guarded against and that South Sudanese should wake up from unwise fighting that leads the nation to abyss.
He adds that South Sudan has so many opportunities for development with more abundant resources than any neighbour and so there is envy.
Analyst Diing suggests engagement of the civil population in discussing SPLM/A in Opposition’s proposals for federation with 21 states which create job opportunities such as governors, commissioners and parliamentarians.
He, however, wonders whether resources will be enough to run 21 federal states when the current decentralized government has failed to develop the ten states in about ten years.
The Sudd Institute policy analyst made the statement during a public lecture presentation in Juba on Thursday.
