Japanese government pledges scholastic support to Western Equatoria

The Japanese Ambassador to South Sudan says his government is committed to help get the children back to learning in the young country.
 
Ambassador Masahiko Kiya pledges that Japan would extend financial support for the procurement of learning materials for the 400 thousands children targeted with back to learning campaign in Western Equatoria State.
 
He states that it is only through education that South Sudanese could fulfill their potentials to build a peaceful and stable future for all.
 
UNICEF Country Director Jonathan Veitch says this year Japanese people contributed 9.5 million US Dollars to UNICEF programs for children including education.
 
He hails relative peace in Western Equatoria State, calling upon everybody to respect the rights of all children to go to school.
 
The Japanese Ambassador recalls that his country was in war 150 years ago, but they decided to lay down arms, reconcile, go to school and build the country that is why they have Toyota, Sony and National among other world powerful industrial companies.
 
He urges all South Sudanese to follow their footsteps.
