EE Governor says war ‘negative legacy, rebellion’ retard development

Eastern Equatoria Governor cited negative legacy of civil wars in the Sudan and continuous rebellions as factors hindering development in South Sudan.
 
Louis Lobong Lojore told the State Parliament at the opening of the 7th session on Monday that the government lack of services delivery affected development, making it difficult to fulfill its pledges in the last 5 years, Radio Emmanuel reported.
 
He also noted national government’s centralization of tax revenue and competing priorities as other factors challenging service delivery.
 
Governor Lobong blamed retarding development on unproductive human resource in the state, weak private sector to boost the economy and unemployment of youth.
 
The State Assembly Speaker Alberio Tobiolo Oromo reminded the legislators that the supplementary budget is top priority, presentation of reports from constituencies, urgent and important matters, presentation of Bills and policy statements of ministries are other pending businesses of the Assembly.
 
Speaker Tobiolo said the assembly would ensure security of 2015/2016 budget and the amendment of Assembly Conduct of Business Regulation and the transition constitution of the state in conformity to changes made in the national government.
