Western Equatoria government on Thursday officially launched the State Land Regulation Acts Management Law at Yambio Cultural Centre.
Land Commission Chairperson Alfred Riruyo Ngbakogbe described the event as a historical for the state government and citizens to have laws guiding land management and giving citizens the authority to own land, Radio Anisa reported.
Physical Infrastructure Minister Clement Juma Mbugoniwia said it was a joint effort of state and county authorities to realize legal polices on land as an essential resource that needs proper use and management to benefit everybody.
Acting Governor Sapana Abui told citizens that the government would never tolerate the unusual cultures of owning land by blood or violence.
He added that citizens could own the land but the government has the right to regulate its use according to the law.
The State Land Regulation Acts Management Law was passed to the State Legislative Assembly since 2013.
