The clinical officer in the Antiretroviral Treatment Centre for Yei, Lainya and Morobo Counties on Wednesday lamented that stigma is still high in youths compelling them to hide status and reject treatment.
Chaplain Yuga told the media that many women and few men come to the Centre to take drugs, attributing youth rejection to lack of awareness with growing stigma, Radio Easter reported.
He said the Centre enrolled 3,353 people living with the virus including 1,187 men, 1,108 women, 78 girls and 109 boys under the age of 14 years who are taking care.
Mr Yuga suggested creation of more treatment centres to reduce long distance travel of persons living with the virus.
He decried people living with the virus in Tore Payam of Yei and Morobo Counties’ struggle to access the centre on their own because there is only one centre and lack of agency to take drugs close to them.
Earlier this week, some organizations complained that lack of funds hampered their struggle to carry out more awareness.
