A partnership between the Italian NGO, Doctors with Africa and the national Ministry of Health achieved outstanding success saving the lives of mothers and babies at Yirol County Hospital in Lakes State.
In a statement CRN obtained, Doctors with Africa Country Director Chiara Scanagatta said they provided quality healthcare at Yirol Hospital, increasing the number of women delivering by 47 percent and 100 percent safe delivery.
The Doctor said around 90 percent women in South Sudan gives birth at home, experiencing life-threatening due to complications such as excessive bleeding after birth.
The Director disclosed that ensuring a simple ambulance to work in a rural setting reduced pregnancy and delivery scary in the area.
The official lamented that poor road conditions and flooding in Lakes State means transporting women for medical attention is difficult.
