Government delegations from the United States of America and Germany on Tuesday visited Tombura-Yambio Catholic Diocese in Western Equatoria State.
Tombura-Yambio Catholic Bishop Barani Edward Hiiboro Kusala received the delegates at Tombura airstrip and escorted them to Ngboko, Source Yubu and Yambio Parishes, Radio Anisa reported.
He said the visit was for the partners to assess the situation of citizens and find out areas of concerns especially in agriculture, education and health sectors.
Tombura County Commissioner Babiro Charles Gbamisi thanked the Diocese for inviting donors, saying the government works hand in hand with the Catholic Church on many developmental activities for the well being of the people.
Ave Maria Ngboko Parish Priest Fr Joseph Gitingi disclosed that his first plan was to open a pineapple plantation to generate money for supporting his Parish.
Source Yubu local resident, Angelina Gbinza Kuyubu lamented that many children and pregnant women die from simple sickness due to bad roads and lack of medicines in the hospital.
The US representative David Dettorney said they were impressed by number of projects carried out by Ave Maria Parish Priest and parishioners especially the big pineapple farm Fr Joseph Gitingi opened in Ngboko.
German representative Alexa Kuinsluck said Western Equatoria citizens are very strong, doing good job to produce enough food, but need more knowledge to make the country very wealthy in the world.
He said donors would support people who work hard, promising to revisit Tombura-Yambio Diocese in the nearest future.
Representative of Tombura-Yambio Catholic Diocese Fr John Ngbapia cited agriculture, health, education, peace building, water and sanitation as priorities.
He appreciated the visitors, disclosing that Caritas donors are expected to come soon from Germany, Austria and Belgium to make their assessments.
