Lakes State Governor finally broke silence on the three months detention of two Members of State Legislative Assembly, saying security organs arrested them based on their recommendations.

Matur Chut Dhuol told the press on Wednesday that Rumbek North MP Marik Nanga Marik was arrested on allegations that he ordered his clansmen to fight SPLA soldiers killing 40 officers last October, Radio Good News reported.

The Governor said Rumbek East MP Isaac Makur Buoch was also arrested after making threats that Rumbek town would be attacked and captured by armed youths.

The Governor described the detention as a way of protecting the lawmakers from possible retaliatory attacks by angry soldiers who survived the ambush.
