The National Council of Ministers in its regular sitting on Friday identified ways to avert looming economic collapse due to global oil price drop.

Acting Government Spokesperson Rebecca Joshua Okwachi told journalists that the cabinet instructed economic clusters to brainstorm ways of saving South Sudan economy from depression including boosting non-oil revenues.

She admitted that the global oil price fall has already affected South Sudan oil prices that account for 98 percent of the national revenues as per recent statistics.

The Acting Spokesperson said the cabinet approved an Amendment Bill extending the period and mandate of the National Constitutional Review Commission for two years until December 2016.

She explained that the renewal of the Commission is necessary for the draft constitution presentation in future national conference.

Ms Joshua wishes the nation happy peaceful Christmas and prosperous New Year 2015, praying that South Sudanese work together to usher a new era of peace.

The Acting Spokesperson denounced criminal cases, describing the robbery of Yei ECSSS Bishop Hillary Luwate and Juba-Nimule road ambushes as very unfortunate.

She said security apparatus are working hard to avoid future occurrence.
