Rumbek residents in Lakes State turned up in large numbers on Friday to welcome the Apostolic Nuncio to South Sudan and Kenya for a three-day visit to attend Diocesan Youth Congress.
Addressing the congregation, Archbishop Charles Daniel Balvo said his visit to Rumbek Diocese was the first of its kind outside Juba since his appointment as the Pope’s ambassador a year ago, Radio Good News reported.
He said South Sudan needs peace, urging masses to give peace a chance to grow in their hearts and spread countrywide.
Lakes State Deputy Governor Santo Dumic Chol expressed hope that the Youth Congress would be for sharing positive ideas.
He appreciated contributions of Rumbek Diocese in education and health, vowing government’s support to church growth in the region.
