International Republican Institute or IRI Consultant said in the survey they carried out in for South Sudanese internally displaced persons and refugees at home, Uganda, and Kenya show limited confidence in peace and reconciliation process.
Robert E Carpenter while presenting survey results on Friday in Juba said more than half of the conflict-affected people believe a transitional government is the solution to the current crisis in the new nation.
He added that the largest population said they would need to see peace and security before they return to their mother land.
The Consultant said the survey shows the clear importance of incorporating the views of the citizens in the peace and reconciliation process and any transitional government moving forward.
He called on all parties to commit to real and lasting peace to the country.
The consultant noted that the Institute would welcome the chance to help ensure that South Sudanese refugees and IDPs’ voices are heard.
