Western Bahr El Ghazal government schools headmasters and teachers regretted poor performance of their students during the national exams results, attributing it to lack of text books and the poor primary foundation.
Umbili Girls’ head teacher Sadala Denis Ibrahim said there are no text books for reference and the reluctance of students contributed to the low performance, Radio Voice of Hope reported.
Wau Girls head teacher Mariam Garman said her teachers were able to complete the syllabus in time but the poor performance was a collection of factors from the school and students.
She lamented that many of her students failed English language because of the poor foundation as they did not concentrate to pass the exams.
Wau Girls English teacher James Akile advised students to take the language seriously because it remains a key for further studies, urging parents to encourage their children to like the language.
He predicted that the results in the coming years might be worse than expected as students have poor foundation in Arabic and English languages.
